Planning your Umrah trip? Make sure you're prepared with this checklist of essential items to pack. From travel documents to spiritual tools, we cover everything you need to bring for a smooth and fulfilling pilgrimage.

Packing well for Umrah is part of preparing your heart for the journey. When your bag is light, organised and complete, you can give your full attention to worship instead of worrying about what you forgot. The list below covers the practical essentials most pilgrims need — keep it simple, modest and easy to carry.

Ihram and Clothing

Your most important items are your ihram garments. Men should bring two sets of the two white unstitched cloths (one to wear and one spare), along with an ihram belt to hold valuables. Women perform Umrah in modest, loose clothing that covers properly — there is no special ihram dress, so pack comfortable abayas and headscarves in breathable fabric.

Beyond ihram, bring modest, comfortable everyday clothing suited to a warm climate, plus a light layer for cool hotel air-conditioning and early-morning prayers.

Footwear

You will walk a great deal — around the Haram, between hotel and mosque, and during ziyarat. Pack comfortable walking footwear that is already broken in, and a pair of simple sandals or slippers that are easy to slip on and off at the mosque.

Toiletries and Health

While in ihram, scented products are avoided, so pack unscented soap, shampoo and toiletries. Also bring:

  • Any personal medication you take regularly, in your hand luggage, with a copy of the prescription
  • A small basic first-aid kit — plasters, pain relief, anything for minor coughs or upset stomach
  • Sunscreen, lip balm and a small bottle of hand sanitiser
  • A reusable water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day

For the Mosque

Carry a small drawstring bag for your shoes so you can keep them with you when entering the mosque, along with a light prayer mat, a pocket Quran or prayer app, and a tasbih if you use one. A small, modest bag for daily essentials makes moving between hotel and Haram much easier.

Documents and Money

Keep your passport, visa, flight details and hotel confirmation together in one secure folder, with photocopies stored separately. Bring a small amount of local currency for incidentals and keep emergency contact numbers handy.

A Final Reminder

Pack light and pack with intention. At Noah Travel, our Singapore group leaders are happy to share a tailored checklist before departure and do daily health check-ins during the trip, so you can focus on your worship knowing the practical details are well looked after.
